Design & ConstructionThe Breville Juice Fountain Plus JE98XL has a powerful 850-watt motor with two speeds: High (12,000 rpm) for hard fruits and vegetables, and Low (6,500 rpm) for leafy greens and soft fruits. There’s a 1.1-quart (1-liter) juice jug with a froth separator, as well as a large, 2.6-quart pulp container. The Juice Fountain’s cutting disk is stainless steel, surrounded by a stainless micromesh filter (Breville says it allows more vitamins and minerals to filter through).
It has a large, 3-inch feed tube. The body of the juicer is heavy-grade polymer. The base has wrap-around cord storage, as well as suction cups for stability. The removable parts are dishwasher safe, and there’s a one-year warranty against factory defects. PerformanceTo test the Breville Juice Fountain Plus, we whipped up three juices, from complex to simple. First we concocted a juice with apple, spinach, kale, parsley, and ginger.
Next, we made one with carrot, beet, celery, and ginger. And finally, we made grapefruit juice.Results: We loved the wide mouth on the feed tube; it allowed us to shove in more carrots, hunks of fruit, and bunches of greens at one time. The disk pulverized fibrous items like ginger with no problem, and worked through hard beets and carrots without letting small pieces escape into the filter bowl, though some pulp did get trapped there. We appreciated the pitcher’s large capacity, as well as the lid with a special lip to hold back the froth that accumulates on top of the juice.

The pulp container made it easy to transfer the fruit and veggie bits to the compost.To sum up: This is a sleek and powerful juicer. There are a lot of parts to assemble and clean, but the whole unit is compact.
